Wall Township
Wall Township is a well-established suburban community in Southern Monmouth County bordering several small beach towns including Sea Girt, Spring Lake and Manasquan. The majority of Wall has retained much of the rural beauty of an area that was once largely farmland. Local farms offer horseback riding, petting zoos, pick-your-own produce, and alpacas to visit or purchase some fleece knitted goods.
Homes vary from upscale riverfront residences, farm properties on large tracts of land, to bungalows and Cape Cods near seashore communities. Most common throughout the township are generous homes, each on a half-acre to an acre and built in the last 20 to 30 years as farmers sold their land to developers.
There are 11 zip codes in Wall, all but Allenwood are designated by one of its surrounding municipalities. Wall has a broad range of neighborhoods, many taking their identity from an adjacent town or a natural feature. The section next to downtown Manasquan is known as Manasquan Shores and likewise, the neighborhood east of Sea Girt is known as Sea Girt Estates. Aside the Manasquan River are Manasquan Park and Sterling Woods, both admired for their secluded waterfront homes in a woodland setting. You can also find waterfront homes in North Wall along the banks of the Shark River.
North of Manasquan Park is Allenwood where the long tradition of operating a country general store has been carried out since the 1850s. The current site of the Allenwood General Store dates to 1925 and is the perfect spot to take a break while cycling the 5.4-mile Edgar Felix Bike Path. This picturesque bike trail of woods, wildflowers, and farmland starts at Main Street in Manasquan and runs all the way to Allaire State Park.
Allaire State Park is 3,000 acres offering hiking and horse-riding trails, camping and picnic sites, and notably the Historic Village of Allaire. This 1822 village depicts life in the early 19th century and includes a working blacksmith, bakery, and steam locomotive. Another Park to explore is the 991-acre Shark River Park. Its waterways, sandy hills, forests, and pond attract anglers and hikers in the summer, and cross-country skiers and ice skaters in the winter.
